As the founder and longtime managing partner of MeadLaw, P.A., Ms. Mead led with integrity, passion, and an unwavering commitment to her clients and colleagues.

Over the span of her accomplished career, Ms. Mead was a trusted defender in some of the most complex and high-stakes criminal cases across the state. From homicide and sexual assault to narcotics and weapons charges, her expertise and fierce advocacy shaped countless courtroom outcomes—and lives. Her dedication to delivering strategic, client-centered representation made her one of Baltimore’s most respected criminal defense attorneys.

A proud graduate of Troy University with both B.S. and M.A. degrees in Criminal Law, Ms. Mead went on to earn her law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law. Following law school, she served as a judicial law clerk in both the Court of Special Appeals and the Circuit Court for Baltimore City, experiences that sharpened her legal insight and laid the foundation for a distinguished private practice.

Ms. Mead was not only a powerful advocate in the courtroom but also a steadfast leader in the legal profession. She co-chaired the Baltimore City Bar Association’s Criminal Law Committee, served as Secretary/Treasurer for the MSBLE Character Committee, and held roles as a Trustee for the Office of the Public Defender Board and on the Judicial Nominating Committee for Baltimore County.

Her career includes involvement in several landmark cases, including:

  • State v. Brooks, 148 Md. App. 374, 812 A.2d (2002)
  • State v. Evans, 352 Md. 496, 723 A.2d 423 (1999)
  • State v. Pagano, 341 Md. 129, 669 A.2d 1339 (1996)
  • Jones v. State, 336 Md. 255, 647 A.2d 1204 (1994)

Though she has stepped away from active practice, Margaret A. Mead leaves behind a legacy defined by fearless advocacy, mentorship, and a profound impact on Maryland’s legal landscape. During retirement, she has been enjoying painting and cooking. Her contributions will be remembered with gratitude and deep respect by clients, peers, and the broader legal community.
